New rules have been proposed by U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to speed up innovations in drone tech and ensure operations are "safe, secure, routine, and scalable."
Outlined in a 731-page report, the proposed regulations seek to eliminate impediments to BVLOS flights and other drone operations. Duffy wants remotely piloted drones to be able to travel over longer distances to deliver goods, inspect infrastructure, and assist with agricultural needs.
“Industry needs this rule to make sure they can use this technology that’s going to allow them to do business more efficiently and effectively,” said Duffy.
