About:
My love for the air dates back many years ago. I joined the Air Force to become an Air Traffic Controller like my Dad. So I started the school for Air Traffic Control and was really not into studying at that point in my life. I was struggling with maps and charts and also was 1 of 3 women in the class, which made me feel outnumbered in a man's world. I eventually decided this wasn't for me and I withdrew from the ATC school. Looking back, I do wish I had tried harder and not given up. Then in 2008 I took up Professional Photography as an Architectural Interiors Photographer. I found this deeply fulfilling and visually stimulating and then decided I wanted it to take it further. I wanted a drone. So towards the end of Covid I bought the DJI Mini 2 and started learning in a nearby park. I met some wonderful people that were willing to share knowledge and that was my beginning. As a photographer, I wanted a better camera. I started researching drones and decided on Autel. I now fly with the Autel Evo Lite Plus. However, I knew I wanted to be a legitimate flyer. So I started studying for the 107, and as life makes those full circles, here I was back at maps and charts. But being older now, and more responsible I delved into the info and passed the exam. That was 2 years ago. Since then I am enjoying flying wherever I can and am once again in a man's world, as the drone industry is very male dominated. but this time I feel it's more on equal footing. In essence, being in a man's world in the drone industry demands not only technical prowess but also an unwavering commitment to shatter gender biases, pioneer change, and inspire the next generation of women to soar to new heights in this dynamic field.
