About:
Hello. My name is Tim and I have been in the corporate world for the last 15 years, straight out of college. I always loved flying drones but never really had the time, or up here in Maine when I would find the time the weather would not cooperate with my schedule... something that happens often up here in southern Maine. Anyway, I recently took severance from my previous job because I did not like the way the company was heading. I never thought of it as a career, but more this was my chance to get out of the cooperate world for good (hopefully). I studied and received my part 107 certificate in September of 2023, and I pulled the plug in making an aerial photography business shortly after that: Mileflyclubaerials.com is my website. I also taught myself how to process/edit my 4K footage in Final Cut Pro X. Additionally, I have a subscription to Artlist for royalty-free music. I received my Bachelor's Degree back in 2010 but I have not used my degree really at all until lately. My wife and I met in college. She is very creative and loves to make her homemade treats, so she started her own business the same time I did as well: sweetiepumps.etsy.com. I love Christmas Lights and I have had a few jobs last month with my aerial footage: a couple outdoor lighting companies, as well as I also have done a few holiday events for my hometown. Which is great and all, but it's not a steady source of income. I would rather not go back to the corporate world. I enjoy this this! It's a passion now. I'm at a crossroad so to speak. Looking how to make a living with my drone skills now.... so here I am! But this past 5 or so months have been very interesting for me to say the least. Living up here in southern Maine I feel like is the perfect location… at least for photographers. I live only 15 minutes or so to the coastline. I am not a very good painter etc. not a whole lot of artistic ability in that category but I’ve always loved to take pictures. I mean who doesn’t like that “Birds Eye view” right? With the drones these days, and with 4k footage… this Mavic 3 Pro really does a lot of the work. It’s funny though with editing and everything: people always come up to me and ask how good the footage is. I of course don’t want to be downer but yeah, it’s only 1/3 of the real, final content. Editing, although I’m getting more efficient with every video I edit, takes time. A couple hours usually. But this is really the first time I love what I do… in my life. I used to always get micromanaged it seems like in the workplace and now I just get to work by myself. It’s true when someone says that “if you love what you do, you won’t work a day in your lives.” Now that I have been able to discover this after years of not having a meaningful time in the workplace, I would love to be able to turn this into a full-time business. That would be my dream!
