Given the mysteries and concerns regarding the "New Jersey Drone Deluge"—as well as general agita over the appearance of drones almost everywhere—it seems some people are wondering if they can take a DEFCON 5 "seek and destroy" stance if a drone hovers over their private property.

Apparently, a few residents of Columbia, South Carolina may be predisposed to blasting a drone out of the sky if they catch one zooming across their property lines.  As a result, WLTX 19 jumped in to provide its viewers with a concise and fact-checked answer as to the legalities of taking down trespassing UAVs.
