Expert Witness Services Pertaining to:

BACKGROUND: DronePI is a start-up subsidiary of Protection Concepts, a small multi-state licensed Private Investigation and Security Consulting firm serving California and Nevada from offices in Santa Paula, CA, Sacramento, CA, and Las Vegas, NV.
I am the firm’s Owner, Principal Investigator, and Chief Pilot. I am a 25 year Law Enforcement veteran. More than half of that time was spent as an Administrative and Detective Sergeant. Concurrent with my law enforcement career, I worked as a licensed Private Investigator. I now have more than four decades of investigative experience. During my military service, I was trained as a photographer by the United States Department of Defense.
In addition to being a Part 107 Certified Commercial Drone Pilot for the past four years, I have been an FAA licensed Private Pilot since 1985 and have owned and flown various fixed wing aircraft and helicopters during my career. My education and experience gives me a very particular set of skills to do certain specialized tasks that most drone pilots are not equipped to do. I am also a Federal and State Court Certified Expert Witness who has testified in Depositions and Trials on more than 130 occasions.
LICENSED AND INSURED: FAA Part 107 Certified Commercial Drone Pilot, California Private Investigator License # PI6477, Nevada Private Investigator License # 852. In addition to complying with the provisions of FAA Part 107, all flight operations are conducted in full compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws. We are fully insured.
Particular attention is given to California Civil Code Section 1708.8 (Privacy); to California Public Utilities Code Section 21403 (Aircraft Operations); and to Nevada Revised Statutes 493.010 to 493.120 (Uniform State Law for Aeronautics).
LEGAL STUFF: Many states require that a licensed Private Investigator perform some of the services we offer. This is particularly true if the final work product is intended for use as evidence in court or for insurance or other legal or regulatory purposes. Illegally obtained evidence is not admissible in court. Also, in California it is illegal to hire an unlicensed person to perform work that requires a licensed investigator. Privacy is an increasingly big deal everywhere.
If the pilot you hire is unlicensed, doesn’t know the law, or just doesn’t care, and commits a privacy violation or a criminal offense, your name is going to appear right alongside theirs on the ensuing lawsuit.
