France's <a href="https://www.parrot.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Parrot SA</a> showed its new <a style="color: #ba372a;" href="https://www.parrot.com/en/drones/anafi-ukr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ANAFI UKR</a> micro-drone at the Paris Air Show 2025.
The next generation of the company's ANAFI USA drone, the ANAFI UKR weighs approximately two pounds, can utilize AI to act as an autopilot for UAVs, and will fly up to minutes without a GPS signal (56 minutes total).
&ldquo;When the war in Ukraine started, and electronic warfare became a huge issue with GPS jamming and spoofing and electromagnetic environments that were totally messed up,&rdquo; said Parrot drone software manager Marie Calleux. &ldquo;And we said, &lsquo;Well, let's make a drone for that.'&rdquo;
The ANAFI UKR can remain fully operational in a global navigation satellite system-denied environment, as well as in hostile electromagnetic conditions&mdash;thanks to its optical navigation, anti-spoofing with frequency-hopping military radio, and cybersecurity tech. &ldquo;It can fly without GPS, and it can fly totally disconnected,&rdquo; said Calleux, who also revealed the drone can even read maps. &ldquo;It comes with an internal memory," she added, "so the military, police, or government agency can plug in their maps, and the drone knows how to read them. It can do this while connected to radios, wifi, satellite connections, or offline, and come back with the data that you want." Check Out the Paris Air Show 2025

Parrot SA Debuts ANAFI UKR drone

A leak reported by <a style="color: #ba372a;" href="https://x.com/Quadro_News" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Quadro News' Igor Bogdanoff </a>&nbsp;suggests that <a style="color: #ba372a;" href="https://www.dji.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DJI</a> is about to release its Osmo Nano to go after the micro-action-camera market that has been pretty much "owned" by the <a style="color: #ba372a;" href="https://www.insta360.com/product/insta360-go" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Insta360 GO series</a>.

The potential new product from DJI was discovered in the FCC database &mdash; a filing which typically portends a release within a few weeks or months.

DJI had previously served the compact camera market with its Action 2, but the product was discontinued in favor of the larger Osmo Action 3 and Action 4 models. However, the "Nano" term in the FCC database points to DJI reentering the mini-micro camera game.
While not exactly "spywear" &mdash; they are small, but you can see them &mdash; micro cameras are prized by adventurers and extreme sports enthusiasts who typically wear them on hats, collars, shirts, necklaces, or other attire to provide thrilling POV content.

DJI To Take On Micro Action Camera Market?

<a style="color: #ba372a;" href="https://www.uavnavigation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UAV Navigation</a>, a division of Grupo Oes&iacute;a specializing in advanced guidance, navigation, and control solutions, has been selected as a key technology provider for the European VANTAGE project. This ambitious initiative, funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF), aims to develop the next generation of tactical VTOL unmanned aerial systems for European defense.
Coordinated by Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT), the VANTAGE project represents a major milestone in Europe&rsquo;s pursuit of technological superiority and operational autonomy&mdash;capabilities that have proven critical on today&rsquo;s battlefields, as starkly demonstrated by recent conflicts such as the war in Ukraine. The resulting platform will be a modular VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) drone, capable of executing a wide range of C4ISR (command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) missions as well as kinetic strikes, with a strong emphasis on adaptability to complex and contested environments.
In this context, UAV Navigation-Grupo Oes&iacute;a brings its extensive expertise in high-precision inertial navigation and robust flight control, ensuring superior performance even in GNSS-denied environments where GNSS signals are blocked or degraded. The Spanish company autonomous navigation technology guarantees mission integrity and safety, allowing the UAV to operate without human intervention under adverse conditions or safely return to a designated location if communication links are lost.

These include sense-and-avoid capabilities, dynamic flight replanning, and coordinated swarm functionality. Such innovations empower the platform to execute complex tactical missions with a high degree of autonomy and operational safety. At the same time, manual intervention mechanisms are embedded within the system to ensure that human oversight remains integral in high-stakes scenarios, reinforcing both operational responsibility and the ethical deployment of systems with kinetic capabilities.
The project is supported by the European Commission (European Union) through the European Defence Fund and is coordinated by Latvijas Mobilais Telefons SIA. UAV Navigation–Grupo Oesía Joins VANTAGE Project

Walmart, which launched drone delivery in 2021, has added Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa to its airborne distribution system.
The retailer states it has made more than 150,000 drone deliveries since debuting the service in Dallas, Texas and Bentonville, Arkansas.&nbsp;
&ldquo;This expansion of our drone delivery service marks a significant milestone in that journey," said Walmart senior vice president of U.S. Transformation and Innovation Greg Cathey. "As the first retailer to scale drone delivery, Walmart is once again demonstrating its commitment to leveraging technology to enhance our delivery offerings with a focus on speed.&rdquo;

Aeronautics Ltd. Secures $50M in Contracts for Orbiter 4

If you're a Star Wars fan and ever dreamed of zooming through the forests of Endor on a speeder&mdash;just as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia did in The Return of the Jedi&mdash;you big day may be approaching fast.
Polish inventor Tomasz Patan has developed the <a href="https://volonaut.com/airbike" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Volonaut Airbike</a> &mdash; an 86-pound, jet-propelled "skybike" that can attain speeds up to 124 miles per hour.&nbsp;
The Airbike is constructed from carbon fiber and 3-D printed parts and deploys a&nbsp;proprietary stabilization system and flight computer to make operation easy.
At press time, we don't know how long it will take for consumers to jump at the opportunity to leave their Harleys and Hondas in the dust and level up to an Airbike. The project was just moved out of stealth mode to letting media (such as The Droning Company) talk about it.
But at least the Volonaut Airbike proves it's no longer an action-flick fever dream to consider speeding across the skies on a flying motorcycle.

Organizers of <a href="https://www.expouav.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Commercial UAV Expo</a> have announced a final call for submissions for the second annual UAV Empower: Path to Leadership Event Scholarship, a program designed to support university students passionate about using uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) to drive positive social and environmental change. Launched with a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive commercial drone industry, the scholarship provides students the opportunity to attend Commercial UAV Expo, the leading event for commercial drone professionals. <a href="https://www.expouav.com/uav-empower-leadership-scholarship/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Applications are due June 6, 2025</a>.
Three students will be selected to receive a full event scholarship, including a conference pass granting access to all sessions, keynotes, networking events, and Indoor Airspace demonstrations. Recipients will also receive complimentary hotel accommodations, a travel stipend to assist with airfare, and personalized mentorship during the event to help them navigate the industry and build lasting professional relationships.
"We have already seen firsthand how much of a difference this scholarship can make for students who are just beginning to explore their place in the commercial drone industry,&rdquo; said Jason Lavigne, Marketing Manager for Commercial UAV Expo. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s more than just an opportunity to attend the event, it&rsquo;s an opportunity to build networks and give students a sense of belonging."

UAV Empower: Path to Leadership Event Scholarship

In 2023, I released a YouTube video titled &ldquo;How to Get Drone Jobs?&rdquo; and it quickly became one of my top-performing uploads. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and to this day, it's one of the highest-ranked videos on my channel. But something has shifted. The drone job market isn&rsquo;t quite what it used to be. Pilots who are certified, passionate, and doing everything right are still struggling to find consistent work.

One recent comment I received perfectly sums up what so many drone pilots are feeling: &ldquo;Dude!! I have been looking for something like this for a while. Thank you for posting this video. I'm signing up today! I've been struggling to get jobs on my own, driving around looking for construction sites, talking to Real Estate agents etc.. etc. One last question, did you set your fee with the insurance company, or did they tell you what they were willing to pay?&rdquo; This pilot had just signed up for TheDroningCompany.com, a job board and media platform centered around the drone industry. While it&rsquo;s not a guaranteed job magnet, it&rsquo;s still a valuable space to promote your brand and stay informed on the latest in the drone world. But platforms alone won&rsquo;t get you the jobs you&rsquo;re looking for. Today&rsquo;s market requires something more.

<li>The Reality of the Current Drone Market: </li>
</ol>
The drone space is saturated not with just certified drone pilots, but with hobbyists as well. With the affordability of consumer drones and the ease of certification such as TRUST, &amp; Part 107, more pilots are entering the field than ever before. That means more competition, fewer easy wins, and a much higher need to stand out. I talk about this more in my corresponding YouTube video.  Traditional methods like cold-calling real estate agents or driving around construction sites aren&rsquo;t as effective as they once were. Many of the companies that needed drone content have either already partnered with someone or are now doing it in-house. So how do you rise above the noise?

<li>Be Where the Attention Is: </li>
</ol>
Platforms like <a href="https://www.thedroningcompany.com/">TheDroningCompany.com</a> are helpful &mdash; not necessarily for landing a flood of gigs, but for establishing an online presence. Your goal should be visibility. When companies look you up, what will they find? A professional pilot with a digital portfolio? Or someone with a dusty LinkedIn page and no current content?  Use job boards as a tool, but don&rsquo;t rely on them. Use them to send traffic to your personal page, YouTube channel, or business website. Make it easy for people to trust and hire you.

<li>Build Your Brand and Story:</li>
</ol>
People hire people, not just pilots. You need a brand. What do you stand for? What industries do you serve? How do you solve problems better than your competitors? Document your journey. Post behind-the-scenes content. Share your wins, your failures, and your lessons learned. Companies like DronePower1, where I briefly worked, weren&rsquo;t just impressed by my drone skills or degree &mdash; the CEO appreciated my integrity, my communication, and how I carried myself. &nbsp;In short, my character.

<li>Develop Your Character and Reputation:</li>
</ol>
This part isn&rsquo;t talked about enough: Character matters. One of the most underrated business strategies is simply being good to work with.  Are you reliable? Communicative? Open to feedback? People don&rsquo;t want to chase you for updates or deal with egos. The industry is growing up, and professionalism matters more than ever.  Being a skilled pilot is table stakes. Being a pilot people enjoy working with &mdash; that&rsquo;s your superpower.

<li>Think Strategically, Not Desperately: </li>
</ol>
If you're waiting for opportunities to come to you, you'll be waiting a long time. Instead of hoping for jobs, start creating them. Identify businesses that could benefit from aerial content and pitch them with custom ideas. Offer free samples if needed to get your foot in the door.  And remember relationships beat resumes. People hire people they know, trust, and see value in. Show up in person. Network. Attend drone expos or local business events. Some that I&rsquo;ve included are the 2025 Palm Springs Drone Fest, Commercial UAV, and the AUVSI Xponential trade shows.  
Final Thoughts  
The landscape has changed, but so have the opportunities. There&rsquo;s still massive demand for drone work &mdash; but it&rsquo;s going to those who are seen, trusted, and known. Don&rsquo;t just chase jobs. Build a presence. Develop your brand. Cultivate your reputation. And most importantly, focus on being the kind of person others want to work with. I created this blog post for those drone pilots out there grinding every day, wondering why the calls aren&rsquo;t coming in. You&rsquo;re not alone, but you don&rsquo;t have to stay stuck either. Let&rsquo;s level up &mdash; together.
