Drones documented early scenes of the devastation Hurricane Otis unleashed on the resort town of Acapulco, Mexico.

The storm—which hit Tuesday, October 24—has claimed 27 lives so far, and many areas are still without electricity and water.

Otis caught residents, tourists, first responders, and even scientists and weather professional completely by surprise as it rapidly transformed from a tropical storm to a raging Category 5 hurricane as it neared the coast.
