Featured NewsTrending NewsOpinion: The DJI Situation and My Hope Moving Forward

post1

31 October 2025

This is a heart-to-heart between me and my fellow pilots, creators, and drone enthusiasts.

Because right now, the state of DJI and the future of drone technology here in the U.S. feels…uncertain.

And with that December 23, 2025 deadline on banning DJI drones rapidly approaching, I just feel it’s time to talk openly about what’s really going on, and why, despite everything, I still choose to hold on to hope.

What Just Happened on October 30, 2025

So here’s what’s happening right now. The FCC recently voted three to zero—unanimously—to give itself the power to retroactively revoke approvals for wireless devices it deems a national security risk.

What that means is simple. If DJI ends up on what’s called the “covered list,” the FCC could not only stop future DJI drones from being sold here in the U.S.,
but it could also pull back authorization for drones that are already approved.

In plain English, if nothing changes, after December 23, 2025, retailers won’t be able to legally sell new DJI drones in the U.S.

And that affects everybody. Not just hobbyists, but commercial pilots, search and rescue teams, law enforcement, fire departments, and countless professionals who rely on DJI gear to do their jobs every day.

What This Means for DJI Pilots & Creators

Now, the good news ...

if your DJI drone was legally imported and FCC-authorized before the deadline, you can still fly.

But here’s the catch. Moving forward, we could start to see some challenges:

  • Firmware updates may become limited or delayed.
  • DJI Care and repair services might get harder to access.
  • Spare parts and batteries could become rare, and prices may continue to spike.

So, no, your drone won’t just stop working overnight, but the long-term stability is where things start to look a little cloudy.

That’s why it’s so important for the drone community to stay informed, stay connected, and stay proactive.

Why I Still Have Hope

Now, let me be real with you guys for a minute. The writing is on the wall. And all signs—every single one—seem to be pointing toward a DJI ban.

But even with that…

I still believe that anything is possible.

Recently, President Donald Trump traveled to China to meet with President Xi Jinping to discuss trade deals, economic partnerships, and other international matters. And call me optimistic, but I can’t help wondering if something good comes out of that meeting?

Could DJI somehow get a message through? Appeal to their government—and maybe even reach President Trump—to open a door for dialogue or negotiation?

Maybe that’s wishful thinking. Maybe, months from now, I’ll look back and either say, “See—I believed something could change, and it did." Or maybe I’ll have to eat my words forever.

But either way, I’d rather be remembered for believing in the possibility of change, than for giving up before the story was finished. Because that’s what faith and vision are all about—believing when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

And ,right now, I still believe something could happen that delays this process, or maybe even eliminates it altogether.

The Bigger Picture

This whole situation is bigger than just one company.

It’s about innovation.

It’s about competition.

It’s about the creative freedom that so many of us have been blessed to enjoy.

DJI has shaped the modern drone industry—from filmmaking and real estate, to agriculture and public safety. They’ve helped us see the world from a whole new perspective.

Losing access to that technology wouldn’t just hurt DJI—it would impact every creator, every business, and every visionary who uses these drones to tell stories, build careers, or even save lives.

But regardless of what happens, I want this message to serve as a reminder...

We are innovators. We are not victims.

We adapt. We learn. And we evolve.

Moving Forward Together

Over the next few months, I’ll keep all of you updated here on the channel. Every new development—every possible alternative—every way we can continue flying legally, safely, and responsibly.

If DJI stays, we’ll celebrate. If they go, we’ll adjust.

Either way, this community will keep flying and keep creating.

Because the sky is still open. And as long as we’ve got the passion, the knowledge, and the heart—nothing can ground us.

Closing Message

So to every pilot watching this—stay encouraged. Keep your skills sharp. Keep your eyes on the skies, and your heart full of hope.

I still believe something can shift before December 23. And even if it doesn’t, we’ll face whatever comes together.

Because this isn’t the end of the story…

It’s just another chapter in how far drone technology—and the people behind it—can go.
