In the ongoing mission to protect the nation from potential cyber threats from foreign drone makers, the Department of Defense, General Services Administration, and NASA implemented an interim rule on November 12 that prohibits the acquisition and operation of drones identified in the American Security Drone Act of 2023.
As many government agencies deploy drones for missions that generate sensitive data, the use of these foreign UAVs—as listed by the Federal Acquisition Security Council—risk asset sabotage and potential disruption of critical operations.
