FAA Cracking Down on Unauthorized Drones

FAA Cracking Down on Unauthorized Drones
Drone Ops Solution 728x90

19 February 2026

If you're planning to shun Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs), you may want to spin the Bobby Fuller Four classic, "I Fought the Law."

Why? Because the FAA may seek you out and pursue criminal charges.

It has already happened. Pilots who flew around 30 unauthorized drones over the recent Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl parade in February are being sought by the FAA and local law enforcement. In fact, the King County (Washington State) Ground Intercept Team has already identified the violators, some of whom also flew into Seattle's Lumen Field—a major no-no. Only approved media with specific waivers were allowed to fly drones during the parade.

Those caught may face hefty fines and other "not awesome" legal woes (such as suspended licenses).

The upgraded security concerns are possibly driven by safety risks ahead of  the 2026 World Cup in Seattle.
