The Vertical Flight Society (VFS) has been a leader in the advancement of the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) revolution since it held the word&rsquo;s first conference on the topic in 2014. VFS is holding its 11th Annual eVTOL Symposium in Phoenix, Arizona, on Feb. 4&ndash;6 &mdash; part of the VFS Transformative Vertical Flight (TVF) 2025 conference &mdash; focusing on the promise, progress and challenges of eVTOL aircraft, with more than 75 speakers from leading aircraft and technology developers, suppliers and government agencies.
VFS is the world&rsquo;s leading non-profit organization working to advance vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) technology and advanced air mobility (AAM) applications, including battery-electric, hybrid-electric and hydrogen-electric propulsion for electric short takeoff and landing (eSTOL) and electric conventional takeoff and landing (eCTOL) applications.
TVF 2025 also includes the Society&rsquo;s 12th Biennial Autonomous VTOL Technical Meeting, with two dozen technical paper presentations on the latest theories, breakthroughs and developments in autonomy and uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS). TVF 2025 is preceded on Feb. 3 by its Short Course on Electric VTOL Design and followed by an open house of Honeywell&rsquo;s flight center on Friday, Feb. 7, providing TVF 2025 attendees with a tour of its Boeing 757 and Leonardo AW139, and showcase the company's AAM technologies. The seventh annual short course &mdash; taught by eVTOL pioneer Dr. James Wang, who invented and designed the AgustaWestland Project Zero, the world&rsquo;s first all-electric VTOL technology demonstrator aircraft in 2011 has had a major impact in the development of today&rsquo;s eVTOL leaders and workforce.
TVF 2025 is the world&rsquo;s longest running conference on eVTOL aircraft and will provide comprehensive updates and insights into this exciting new sector of the global aerospace industry. What sets TVF 2025 apart from other conferences is that it is organized by the technical and business leaders of the vertical flight and advanced air mobility (AAM) industry. VFS members have been at the forefront of helicopter/rotorcraft, powered lift and other VTOL developments for the past 80+ years. TVF 2025 in Detail
TVF 2025 features a full day opening plenary session with more than 15 leaders from industry, academia and government addressing developments in both autonomous VTOL and electric VTOL aircraft. Government plenary speakers represent the US Army, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), as well as the Mayor of Phoenix. The FAA&rsquo;s Larry Fields, Acting Deputy Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety (AVS-2), is the government keynote speaker and will provide insights and updates on the agency&rsquo;s regulations for autonomous aircraft, AAM, UAS, beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations and a perspective on future plans.&nbsp;Executives and technical leaders from Honeywell, Boeing Vertical Lift, Daedalean, Near Earth Autonomy, GoAERO, Archer Aviation, Beta Technologies, Joby Aviation, Pivotal Aero and Wisk Aero, will also provide insights into their industry-leading developments in autonomous and electric aviation.&nbsp;Over the following two days, the Electric VTOL track includes talks by executives from AAM developers Elroy Air, Eve Air Mobility, Jaunt Air Mobility, MagLev Aero, Odys Aviation, Piasecki Aircraft, SkyDrive, Sora Aviation, SURVICE Engineering, Transcend Aero and Unmanned Aerospace, among others. Technology companies include BAE Systems, Bloomy Controls, Dassault Syst&egrave;mes, Rotor Technologies, Toray Advanced Composites, VerdeGo and many others. Representatives from the FAA will give insights into regulations, standards and research developments, while the US Department of Transportation will give an update on the AAM Interagency Working Group (IWG) and its efforts to develop a national strategy for AAM.
The Autonomous VTOL track includes presentations and technical papers on research from NASA, the US Army, US Navy and leading research companies, as well as numerous universities around the world. In addition to the &ldquo;Titans of Autonomy&rdquo; session of VIP subject matter experts, technical topics include air vehicle design, autonomy and artificial intelligence (AI), simulation and testing, electric propulsion and key challenges.

The Autonomous VTOL Technical Meeting was first held in January 2005 in nearby Chandler, Arizona. The biennial meeting was originally called the &ldquo;Unmanned Rotorcraft Systems&rdquo; conference, but quickly expanded to cover micro air vehicles (MAVs), large and small UAS (sUAS), their ground stations, various levels of autonomy, and off-world uncrewed VTOL aircraft.&nbsp;TVF sponsors include Honeywell (Diamond sponsor level); BAE Systems (Platinum); Boeing, Bloomy, Dassault Syst&egrave;mes, Joby Aviation, Piasecki Aircraft, SkyDrive, Toray Advanced Composites and Unither Bioelectronics (Gold); as well as Pivotal, Phoenix Sky Harbor and Stell Engineering (Silver).
A History of Advancing VTOL and AAM
VFS began supporting the eVTOL revolution in 2013, holding the first TVF conference the next year &mdash; the world&rsquo;s first meeting of the eVTOL community. At the time, the idea of electric VTOL aircraft was greeted with widespread skepticism; since then, growing technical progress, flight demonstrations, government validation and private investment have helped reverse public perception. It is now recognized that the vertical flight market is poised for significant expansion over the next few years as eVTOL aircraft enter service that may be better suited than conventional helicopters for certain missions, such as lower operating costs, lower noise and greater design safety.As of today, the Society has cataloged more than 1,175 different electric VTOL concepts from some 450 companies and innovators on its authoritative World eVTOL Aircraft Directory at <a href="http://www.evtol.news/">www.eVTOL.news</a>. When VFS launched the site in April 2017, only a dozen eVTOL programs were known to be under development. The site currently also hosts more than 1,000 eVTOL news stories, including more than 400 in-depth articles from the Society&rsquo;sVertiflite&nbsp;magazine, the leading periodical on eVTOL and rotorcraft developments. VFS has also published its Electric VTOL News e-newsletter every two weeks since 2016.VFS was founded as the American Helicopter Society in 1943 by the visionaries of the early helicopter industry, who believed that technological cooperation and collaboration were essential to support this new type of aircraft. The age of The Jetsons-inspired flying cars is here for everyday, flight-obsessed people without pilot licenses&mdash;as long as they have a spare $200,000 lying around to nurture their love of the skies.

The tech world may have blown Jules Verne's mind. Again.
The futurist science-fiction writer (1828-1905) presaged a lot of innovations, but even if he were alive today, he likely would have missed how fast flying cars are coming to be real elements of everyday life.
This week, China-based <a href="https://www.ehang.com/ehangaav/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ehang</a> became the first company on the planet to pass to receive airworthiness certification for its completely autonomous, pilotless, passenger-carrying, electric-powered aircraft.

It takes 16 electric rotors to get the craft airborne, and it can cover distances of about 18 miles at a top speed of 80 mph. A centralized command/control center monitors flight status, routes, and weather conditions. All passengers need to do is select a destination on the taxi's touchscreen and sit back while the EH216-S gets them where they want to go. As eVTOLs can land and take off from a flat surface, the Ehang EH216-S doesn't need a conventional airport with a runaway. A parking lot, rooftop, neighborhood park, field, or anywhere with enough room to safely land without endangering the public is the only "airport" that's required.</div>

While the burgeoning drone-delivery market has caused some concerns due to noise levels in the sky, the electric-powered EH216-S is reportedly quiet. The taxi can be fully charged in two hours and be ready to serve its next passengers.
Safety for riders and passengers is accommodated with multiple system redundancies, emergency landing systems, and onboard parachutes.
<h5>First Certification</h5>
Ehang applied for a certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) after conducting more than 40,000 test flights in locations around the world. For its part, the CAAC checked about 500 parameters&mdash;including structural strength, software simulation, flight performance, and electromagnetic compatibility&mdash;that the EH216-S had to pass. The CAAC evaluations required 1,000 days of laboratory, ground, and flight testing.
The CAAC certified the EH216-S on October 15, which meant that Ehang's commercial air-taxi operations could start in China immediately.
"Embracing the certification as our springboard, we will launch commercial operations of the EH216-S air taxis, prioritizing safety above all," said&nbsp;Ehang founder and CEO, Huazhi Hu.&nbsp;
However, while air taxis are a gamechanging innovation that could also add value to package deliveries and disaster assistance, the autonomous eVOLs may be challenged by safety and flight regulations in each country, technological advancements and updates, market demand, and social acceptance.
It's the last bit that may be the biggest hurdle. Will the public be comfortable stepping into a pilotless craft, calmly experience being airborne, and trust they are safe riding in an air taxi?

Autonomous Air Taxis Landing Soon?

The <a href="https://alef.aero/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alef Model A</a> is a $300,000 "low-speed vehicle" with an interesting, futuristic approach to eVTOL flight.
However, while touted as a flying car, the car part of the equation is more like a parking-lot tram at Disneyland or a golf cart.
The reason?
The Model A would have to pass a ton of crash-test laws and other regulations, so Alef reportedly opted to bypass automotive-grade approvals and limit their creation to 25 mph and operation on "certain streets"&mdash;meaning earthbound highways are likely off limits.
However, the Model A does fly, so who needs surface streets?
For the flight aspect of the Model A's operation&mdash;well, it's space age and strange. Seating is for one or two passengers, and the cabin is on a gimbal system that rotates 90 degrees to allow the Model A's carbon-fiber, grilled body to deploy its eight vertical-lift fans to get airborne. The flight configuration has been described as almost biplane-like, due to the chassis being somewhat vertical, rather than the lean, mean horizontal aspect of a private jet. Personally, I don't see the biplane reference, as the Model A doesn't exactly evoke images of a Curtis JN-4 Jenny or WWI Spad fighter, but, hey, I think it looks wonderfully alien-esque in flight.
As for how far you'll be able to take your Model A, Alef claims 200 miles per charge if you crawl along the ground, and promises 110 miles per charge when airborne.
The Model A isn't the vehicle for carting two adults, two kiddies, a pup, and a stack of suitcases, but Alef is considering manufacturing a "family version"&mdash;four to six seats with no current luggage capacity predicted&mdash;ten to 15 years in the future. The Model A is slated for public release in 2025.
As wacky and optimistic as the Model A concept may seem, it ain't no joke.
In fact, the FAA has awarded the flying car a "limited Special Airworthiness Certification," which means it becomes the first vehicle of this nature to receive legal approval to fly from the U.S. government.
"We're excited to receive this certification from the FAA," said Alef CEO Jim Dukhovny, who tends to "rock star" media gatherings wearing sunglasses and striking dramatic poses. "It allows us to move closer to bringing people an environmentally friendly and faster commute, saving individuals and companies hours each week. This is a one small step for planes, one giant step for cars."
Alef claims it has produced two working "demonstrator" cars and has launched scale models for testing since 2018. However, while receiving the FAA's airworthiness certificate is important to the Model A's development and ultimate release to consumers, it is, in fact, more of an approval to fly a prototype. The project still awaits the same challenges other air-taxi companies are experiencing to get design, production, and vehicle-category certifications.
Of course, the tech world is full of marketing hype and the promise of cool&mdash;which the Model A certainly possesses in its initial showings. Whether the Model A is viable and safe&mdash;or not&mdash;may depend on the evolution of the vehicle's aerodynamic design. For example, there isn't currently any type of tail structure to ensure stable flight, and the "boxy" airborne configuration isn't exactly streamlined (drag, anyone?).
And, do you have to make a choice that your flying car is best reserved for flying? With terrestrial mode limited to perhaps tooling slowly around a suburban neighborhood or gated residential community, will Model A drivers be frustrated about, say, not being able to take a freeway to open landscapes for recreational flying?
It may be a wild ride for the Alef Model A, but, wow, you have to applaud the application of thinking differently.

Ease of Use
With minimal infrastructure needed to function, AIR ONE is simple to operate and made to scale. The vehicle requires no vertiport for takeoff and landing, just a flat surface, while the collapsible wings make it suitable for a trailer haul and allow for easy parking in most garages and driveways. The 575 kilowatt/771 HP aircraft has a 74-kWh battery, which takes just an hour to fully charge using a supercharger and can utilize the same charging infrastructure as an electric car. It offers a practical range and top speeds, good for short commutes, and, as batteries progress, mid-range trips as well.
Safety
AIR ONE offers a simple design, underpinned by a comprehensive suite of safety features. High redundancy and inherent stability ensure the vehicle can be operated with no special skillset &ndash; much like the average car. As part of its engineered redundancy, AIR ONE has very few moving parts; in fact, the vehicle&rsquo;s eight rotors are the only critical moving parts in the entire design. In case of a safety issue, AIR ONE can remain airborne with the loss of one of its battery packs, rotor, or even a wing.
Like any good human driver, AIR ONE constantly scans its surroundings for hazards &ndash; and it crosschecks these external inputs with internal systems throughout the entire flight, automatically alerting the user to any required action. With a proprietary &ldquo;Fly-By-Intent&rdquo; system, AIR ONE can translate the pilot&rsquo;s intentions into the necessary control inputs, essentially eliminating &ldquo;loss of control.&rdquo; In case of failure, the system will alert the pilot to land as soon as possible. Additionally, more basic functions such as route planning, location tools, and easy troubleshooting let the AIR ONE&rsquo;s pilot and passenger feel at ease in the sky.
Innovative Manufacturing Techniques for Scale

Progress

<li>In May 2022, AIR <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/il/news-releases/air-unveils-full-scale-evtol-prototype-at-the-kentucky-derby-301542446.html">unveiled</a> the full-scale prototype of the AIR ONE at the Kentucky Derby. What&rsquo;s Next?
Nearly 200 customers have secured their AIR ONE preorders via AIR&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.airev.aero/pre-order">website</a>. This growing community of future AIR ONE owners supports the promise of Personal Air Mobility at scale. And as the name implies, AIR ONE is just the first mass production model, with additional models to follow.
AIR is enroute to full envelope flight testing, with manned flights planned for 2023 and the first round of deliveries set for the following year. Until then, AIR will continue its certification process.

Technology companies are racing to transform everyday people into The Jetsons.
The cartoon family of the future famously traveled by flying car, and the possibility of you and I doing the same seems to get closer and closer.
<a href="https://www.aeroht.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">XPENG AEROHT</a>&mdash;an affiliate of XPeng Inc.&mdash;is one of the latest newsmakers. Currently, the largest flying car company in Asia, Aeroht was founded in Dongguan, Guandong, China, and is already designing its sixth-generation model.
Although, at press time, no cars were available for purchase or pre-order, the company's X2 "Low Altitude Air Mobility Explorer" appears to be getting ready for prime time with features such as a 35-minute flight time, a top speed of 84 mph, autonomous flight-path planning, a carbon-fiber airframe with a safety parachute, ground monitoring, and more.

Introducing The Doroni H1 eVTOL&nbsp;
The Doroni H1 is that vehicle, and the company is on track to begin flight testing by Q4 of this year, with plans to secure FAA certification and launch commercially in the second half of 2024.&nbsp;
Doroni&rsquo;s go-to-market aircraft currently under development is a two seater personal eVTOL that will be made available for public purchase (with an estimated starting retail price of $195K) which anyone can own, fly, and park in a standard two car garage. In order to get started, customers will need a current valid driver&rsquo;s license and completion of a 20-hour training course provided by the company.&nbsp;
The H1 was designed with an intuitive, easy-to-use aircraft control system for the H1 based on an auto-stabilizing, multi-rotor aircraft with 4 axes of movement. Safety is in Our DNA&nbsp;
The customer is at the center of everything that Doroni Aerospace does, and as such every safety consideration possible has been baked into the design and nature of the Doroni H1 eVTOL. From its inception with the Y6 and X8 prototypes that came before it, the Doroni H1 was designed to maximize safety and will undergo exhaustive multi-level quality control.&nbsp;
First and foremost, as a flying vehicle capable of landing in a front yard or parking in a standard two car garage, in areas near families and children at play&mdash;ducted propellers are an absolute must. This aesthetically pleasing, patent-pending design sets the Doroni H1 apart from its competitors and greatly increases overall safety, while also enabling a higher thrust efficiency and greatly reduced noise levels.&nbsp;
The Doroni H1 evTOL will also be equipped with airframe parachutes and a variety of sensors, including 360&deg; anti-collision sensors, lidar, barometer, and an Optic Flow camera which helps the aircraft maintain its altitude and position in windy conditions. This is in addition to a variety of other safety features, namely: multiple redundancy batteries, emergency airbags, increased lift and stability, ten independent propulsion systems, energy dissipating landing gear, and an energy dissipating body.&nbsp;
Features + Ease of Use&nbsp;
In terms of specs, the Doroni H1 sports a blazing fast charge time of 15-20 minutes, has a cruising speed of 100 mph, max speed of 140 mph, and currently has a range of 60 miles. As
EV technology continues to advance, Doroni projects this range to increase to 100 miles as it nears product launch.&nbsp;
The H1 combines the ability to takeoff, hover, and land like a helicopter while maintaining the ability to fly like an airplane. It also leverages one-handed joysticks for either left or right-handed pilots (one joystick per pilot) to make controls as intuitive as possible combined with a cockpit interior that&rsquo;s as spacious as possible.&nbsp;

Traction&nbsp;
Production of the Doroni H1 officially began in Q1 2022 at the company&rsquo;s state-of-the-art, Miami-based R&amp;D facility. Doroni has also begun working with major OEMs like Honeywell and Garmin, and leadership has recruited a former Tesla and Lucid Motors CFO.&nbsp;
The company has developed the tech components (batteries, motors, etc.) and partnerships necessary to speed up production and a complete flying prototype is just a few weeks away. Completed Cockpit + Doroni VR Flight Experience&nbsp;
In late July, Doroni Aerospace revealed the completed H1 cockpit combined with the immersive Doroni Virtual Virtual Reality (VR) Flight Experience. The reveal was part of Doroni&rsquo;s participation in the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022 which has been referred to as the &ldquo;World&rsquo;s Greatest Aviation Celebration.&rdquo; The event drew over 600K flight enthusiasts from all over the country, making Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI the busiest airfield in the world from July 25-31.&nbsp;
For the first time ever, the general public was able to step inside of the fully complete H1 Cockpit, strapping in to take command of the H1&rsquo;s control sticks, and experience the next-level sophistication of the H1&rsquo;s Dashboard Flight &amp; Navigation System. Using virtual reality headsets, participants of the EAA AirVenture 2022 were able to sit inside the completed H1 cockpit and simulate the experience of takeoff, flight, and landing the Doroni H1.&nbsp;
Flight enthusiasts ranging from 10 to 70 years old gave the company overwhelming positive responses, with many citing how easy to use and intuitive the system truly is. Doroni believes that when paired together in this way, the H1 cockpit interior and VR Flight Experience provide the closest approximation to what it will be like to fly the completed Doroni H1 eVTOL when it&rsquo;s projected to launch in Q4 2024.&nbsp;

EVOLVING TECH: The Future of Personal Mobility

With more than a few tech evangelists predicting eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle) air taxis will be transporting fares for test flights by 2024&mdash;and that the industry could be in full swing by 2030&mdash;massive investments in aircraft and infrastructure presage an urban air mobility (UAM) system built around clean-energy aircraft. Companies such as United Airlines have already dropped multi-millions to assemble eVTOL fleets that promise to revolutionize air travel, eradicate carbon emissions, and create a green future for the airline industry.
But forward-looking aviation companies aren't limited to developing eVTOLs. Australia's <a href="https://skyportz.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Skyportz</a>, for example, seeks to build a "destination network" of vertiports in the country to move both people and freight. The first Australian veriport design was debuted on August 30, and is set for construction at Caribbean Park in Melbourne&mdash;the fastest-growing commerce precinct outside of the city's central business district.
&ldquo;With the development of a vertiport in a business park, we are breaking the nexus between aviation and airports," says Skyportz CEO Clem Newton-Brown. "For this industry to succeed, it needs to have policy makers pushing the envelope to support new mini airports in locations people want to go. Community support is going to be the key to the development of these services. The community is going to have to see the benefits. Electric air taxis will be a new era in aviation where clean, green, and quiet small aircraft can take people to places they want to go&mdash;be it work or leisure. The Caribbean Park vertiport is the first in a network of sites we will establish in advance of [eVTOL] aircraft becoming widely operational.&rdquo;

The Caribbean Park vertiport is being designed by the Sydney, Australia architecture firm, <a href="http://www.contrerasearl.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Contreras Earl</a>.
"We are proud to have designed Australia&rsquo;s first vertiport&mdash;a beautiful, sculptural, ground-breaking terminal that contributes to the evolution of architecture and to the future of our communities and cities," says Rafael Contreras, Director, Contreras Earl Architecture. "We founded our firm to design original, inventive buildings like Skyportz, as we believe architecture and technology should evolve together. Using advanced technology, we developed an efficient modular design made with recyclable aluminum. The system is lightweight, prefabricated, and assembled on site, so that it can be adapted and configured for a broad range of settings and scaled for mass production."
The component-structured vertiports&mdash;which Contreras Earl designed with site-specific input from aviation consultants <a href="https://www.arup.com/expertise/services/infrastructure/airport-planning" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Arup</a> and <a href="https://to70.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">To70 Aviation</a>&mdash;can be packed into shipping containers and delivered anywhere in the world. <a href="https://www.beta.team/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Beta Technologies</a> is set to provide battery-charging stations. For Caribbean Park, the plan is to include three active landing pads and multiple charging bays. The vertiports can be retrofitted into structures such as multi-level car parks and existing heliports, and can be utilized as bars, cafes, or event spaces until the time is right to activate the sites as eVTOL destinations.
&ldquo;Skyportz is offering the property industry a chance to get on the front foot and install these lightweight, affordable vertiports in advance of being able to actually use them," says Newton-Brown, who acknowledges that countries have not yet adopted regulations and standards for these new vertiports. "But there is no point developing air taxis and other eVTOL services if the aircraft can't land in new locations."
On September 14, Skyportz has opened its vertiport database to accept registrations across the globe for potential sites.

Evolving Tech: Skyportz Preps for eVTOL Future

If you love being a drone pilot, why not consider placing yourself in the cockpit and flying your very own personal aircraft?
You won't even need a pilot's license to fly the amazing <a href="https://www.jetsonaero.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jetson One</a> single-passenger aircraft because it's classified as an ultralight plane.

The 190 lb eVTOL&mdash;or electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft&mdash;is powered by eight electric motors and can reach a top speed of 63 mph. It's Tesla battery cells currently deliver a flight time of up to 20 minutes. You can zoom up to 1,500 feet above the ground, and the vehicle can support a pilot weighing no more than 210 lbs.
This past May, Jetson One founder Tomasz Patan starred in a video where he used his eVTOL for a three-minute flight from his home to his office&mdash;a decrease in his commute time of 88 percent.&nbsp;

"It's extremely easy to operate because we have a flight computer onboard and all steering is a fly-by-wire system," said Patan. "That means you have just two joysticks. You can learn how to fly it in literally five minutes."
If you do plan a purchasing a Jetson One, you'll also be signing up for a mandatory two-day flight training session where you'll learn how to fly, as well as how to fly while complying with the necessary regulations.
Patan planned to sell 25 eVTOLs during the company's first year. To date, he has sold more than 400.
"I was amazed by the amount of interest," he said. "Eventually, we do plan to manufacture a few thousand that will be delivered within three years time. We will also, with time, increase the battery capacity to allow for a longer flight time."

No License Needed for Flying Car

We've all seen sci-fi flicks were first-responders&mdash;and, sometimes, criminals and mad scientists&mdash;zoom around wearing jet packs, working stiffs take flying cars to the their offices, and drones keep watchful eyes on the populace. But, once again, Hollywood hokum is morphing into actual predictions of the future, as the Advanced Air Mobility market (AAM) looks to be worth $17 billion in just three or four short years.&nbsp;
It's no secret that many urban cities are compromised by terrestrial traffic congestion, and tech advancement is making it possible for planners to look to the sky and small-scale aircraft for solutions.
"We can't continue to use road transport," said Anna Kominik, Asia Pacific Director at Wisk, at the Reuters Next conference on December 2. "3D mobility is really important."
Wisk&mdash;a unit of Boeing Co.&mdash;has already been testing an autonomous electric aircraft called "Cora" in Tekapo, New Zealand, over the past four years. Cora takes off and lands like a helicopter, and can carry two passengers for about 62 miles at speeds up to 93 mph.&nbsp;
Yep&mdash;they're thinking "air taxi," and Wisk is already liaising with the FAA for approval to use Cora for public use.
"Sixty-seven percent of the world's population will be in cities by 2030, so ground infrastructure can't keep up, and it is costly to overhaul," said Kominik in a November 5 panel discussion. "We have to move to the sky as a resource."
Inventors, investors, visionaries, and futurists seem to agree. While Allied Market Research pegged the AAM market at $17 million by 2025, it predicts the market will grow to a staggering $110 billion by 2035.
By the way, inventor Richard Browning of England's Gravity Industries is already deep into trials for a jetsuit that can carry a person aloft for about four minutes. Soldiers and emergency-response teams may be airborne in no time!
